Dibër is shaped by the Black Drin between two mountain worlds: Korab on the eastern frontier and Lura to the west. Peshkopi connects them through food, thermal waters and warm highland hospitality.

Each stop includes a real photo, regional label and practical travel guidance.

09Lura National Park
Enter one of Albania’s classic mountain landscapes, where pine forest and pasture surround a chain of glacial lakes. Road access can be rough and seasonal, so confirm conditions and suitable transport.

10Great Lake & Lake of Flowers
Walk between Lura’s best-known lakes, including the large cold-water basin and the Lake of Flowers with summer water lilies. Stay on existing tracks and protect the fragile shores from vehicles and litter.

Try Dibra’s famous jufka pasta, pies, beans, mountain cheese, yoghurt, lamb or goat, potatoes, seasonal preserves and sheqerpare. Village guesthouses often serve set meals, so reserve and share dietary needs in advance.
Five days across Dibër and Lura
Explore Peshkopi, the museum and market, then relax at an established thermal-bath facility.
Visit Rabdisht, enjoy a village lunch and follow safe viewpoints along the Black Drin Valley.
See Grazhdan Castle, then continue to Radomira for a guesthouse stay beneath Mount Korab.
Choose a guided Korab ascent for experienced hikers or a gentler walk through the Korab Plain and village pastures.
Travel with suitable transport to Lura National Park and walk a selection of its glacial lakes before returning in daylight.
Plan your trip
Best time
June to September is best for high mountain access. Spring brings water and flowers; autumn colour is excellent, but rain and early snow can affect roads.
Getting around
A reliable car is essential. Roads toward Lura and remote highlands may require higher clearance, offline maps and a local driver.
Mountain safety
Hire local guides for Korab and remote routes, check forecasts, start early and carry layers, water, food and emergency communication.
How long
Allow five days for both mountain areas. Do not combine Korab and Lura in one rushed day; each deserves its own base and weather window.
This guide uses Albania’s official tourism information and established cultural and image sources. Roads, thermal facilities, trails and seasonal access can change; verify locally.
