Korça is southeastern Albania’s cultural centre and one of the country’s most atmospheric city breaks. Explore the Old Bazaar and museums, listen for the tradition of serenades, then use the city as a base for Voskopoja, Dardha and the landscapes of Prespa.
Korça, Dardha and Voskopoja
Three different faces of southeastern Albania—from the lively Old Bazaar to quiet mountain villages.

The essential experiences
Old Bazaar of Korça
Wander through restored lanes lined with cafés, restaurants and small shops. Visit in the morning for a quieter walk and return in the evening for the city’s social atmosphere.
National Museum of Medieval Art
See an exceptional collection of Albanian icons and religious art, including works associated with Onufri and other important masters. Check current opening hours before visiting.
Cathedral and the city centre
Start at the Resurrection of Christ Cathedral, then follow the pedestrian streets, villas and public squares that give central Korça its elegant character.
National Museum of Education
Visit the building connected with Albania’s first official Albanian-language school and discover a key chapter in the country’s cultural and educational history.
Voskopoja and Dardha
Take a day trip to mountain villages known for stone houses, churches, forest landscapes and winter atmosphere. Road and snow conditions should be checked before departure.
Prespa and Pustec
For a longer day trip, travel toward Lake Prespa and the villages of Pustec. The area combines lake and mountain scenery with a distinctive bilingual cultural heritage.
What to eat
Try Korça-style lakror, kërnacka, local beans, pickled vegetables, mountain cheeses and seasonal fruit. The region is also closely associated with beer and raki. Choose local restaurants and ask what is cooked traditionally that day.
Three days in Korça
Explore the cathedral, pedestrian centre and Old Bazaar, then enjoy a traditional dinner and the evening atmosphere of the city.
Visit the Medieval Art and Education museums, walk through the historic neighbourhoods and leave time for cafés and regional food.
Choose a mountain day in Voskopoja or Dardha, or make an early start for Lake Prespa and Pustec.
Plan your trip
Best time
Korça works year-round: spring and autumn for city walks, summer for festivals and mountain air, and winter for a festive atmosphere and possible snow in nearby villages.
Getting around
The centre is easy to explore on foot. A car, taxi or organised tour is useful for Voskopoja, Dardha and Prespa. Confirm winter road conditions locally.
How long
Two nights cover the city highlights. Three or four nights allow a relaxed pace and at least one excursion into the mountains or Prespa region.
Travel respectfully
Dress appropriately in churches, ask before photographing worship or private interiors, support village businesses and leave natural areas clean.
