Two more worthwhile excursions

For another nature day, consider the Cave of Pëllumbas and the Erzen valley with a qualified local guide, or choose Farka Lake for easy walking and cycling close to the city. Conditions around rivers, caves and unmarked trails should always be checked locally.

What to eat

Start with byrek, qofte and seasonal dishes in the New Bazaar, try fërgesë Tirane, tavë dheu and slow-cooked meats, then explore the capital’s modern restaurants, bakeries and coffee culture. Petrela and Dajti are good settings for a longer traditional lunch.

Day 2

Visit the House of Leaves, explore the central boulevards, then spend late afternoon walking around the Grand Park and Artificial Lake.

Plan your trip

Best time

Spring and autumn offer comfortable city walks. Summer is hot but lively in the evenings; winter is quieter, with mountain conditions changing quickly.

Getting around

The centre is best explored on foot. Use city buses or taxis for Bunk’Art 1, the cable car and lake district, and a taxi, bus or tour for Petrela.

How long

Two days cover the city centre. Three or four nights allow the museums, parks, Dajti and Petrela without rushing.

Check before visiting

Museum hours, Botanical Garden access, zoo tickets and the Dajti cable car schedule can change. Verify directly on the day of your visit.
